What happens to a request

Requests are read every day. The ones that come up more than once get written first, because if two strangers wanted the same phrase this week, a few hundred people wanted it and did not ask. A request becomes a full page — the casual form, the polite form, the alternatives a native would reach for instead, and audio on every line.

This is genuinely where most of the site comes from. A phrasebook decides in advance what you ought to want to say. This one waits to be told.

What makes a good request

• The exact English you would say

  “It is what it is” beats “something about accepting things”. The more it sounds like you talking, the better the Korean will match.
• Who you would say it to

  Korean changes shape depending on the listener, so “to a friend” and “to my boss” are two different answers. See formal or casual.
• Where you heard it

  A line from a show, a song, a video. Context is what separates the phrase people actually use from the dictionary one.
